pt 1

A little light shining in the window
it’s warm
or is it cooler out here
relative
it shouldn’t be cold at all, not this time of year
blink
though the door
no one seems to mind
or notice
do they not notice
this trespass
maybe
maybe they’re not maybe maybe they’re lilac
or if jasmine’s a bringer of spring itself a bringer of summer or it’s just bringing a spritz on your wrist
from an atomizer bringing seasons to heel
wait for me
answer what I am for
answer why
answer while you are waiting
be not ashamed
ungovernable yielding day
glorious juice bliss that is utmost sunburnt shade freckles
hair circling rivers
a procession
the flush of the known universe
bridegroom night lost in the cleave in his limbs in his walk through the cotton and broadcloth
linger to see
look on to this wonder
within there runs blood

Pt 2

hair bleached to corn silk and the corn smells like soil proud of where it came from wrapped not yet ready for a table, tomorrow maybe outside maybe on a grill maybe where you can pass by and smell smoke and kernels darkened charred slathered rendered sweet and fresh from the soil that still clings just a bit to husks that curl and crisp in the hot hot air of what is true is true claim me claim me with your iron drum beat the song with arms that reach out to hold me in the evening when the day is through open up the doors and carry us away blow though
